AN ENLIGHTENMENT STUPA

Together, let’s build a stupa dedicated to Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche

The Enlightenment Stupa commemorates the moment the Buddha attained complete Enlightenment in Bodhgaya, India, after overcoming the maras beneath the bodhi tree.

To honor the memory of our incomparable Teacher, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, to create the causes for his swift return, support his vast future activities, and benefit all beings, we are delighted to announce the construction of a magnificent Enlightenment Stupa on the monastery grounds.

This project began when a generous friend and volunteer provided a substantial donation to fund the construction of a stupa on the monastery grounds. However, additional funding is essential to complete this sacred project.

Location of the future stupa -- LET'S MAKE THIS PROJECT A REALITY TOGETHER

Why Build a Stupa?

The primary purpose of constructing a stupa is to bring profound meaning to beings’ lives. It embodies the Buddha’s enlightened mind and serves as a powerful conduit for blessings and awakened energy.

Simply seeing a stupa purifies the mind, accumulates merit—the foundation of happiness and success—soothes body and mind, honors one’s spiritual teacher, brings peace and harmony, alleviates illness and suffering, and supports the path to Enlightenment.

The stupa also sustains a master’s enlightened activity, magnetizing awakened energy and creating causes for his swift return to benefit all beings.

A Project for 2026: The Monastery Stupa

A major project for 2026 is the construction of this stupa within the monastery grounds.

The monument we are designing:

  • Will stand over 4 meters tall
  • Will be built according to traditional instructions
  • Will include all sacred internal elements (mantras, texts, incense, tsa-tsas, etc.)

Toward Completion – News and Key Dates

We’ve received the 36 packages sent from Nepal: copper elements for the upper part of the stupa, mantra scrolls, sacred texts including the Kangyur and the Sung Bum, and incense powder.

We’ve hired a qualified mason, and the key dates are taking shape:

— October 2026 — land purification ceremonies (performed by the monks of Sera and our Abbot Geshe Tenzin Loden),
— December 2026 — construction beginning with earthworks and the laying of the stupa’s base,
— March 2027 — assembly and filling of the stupa’s other elements and consecration.

In the meantime, nuns and volunteers are preparing the sacred materials to be placed inside, including wealth vases

Offering precious items for the wealth vases

Wealth vases are ritual vessels meant to purify the site and generate blessings, prosperity, and abundance, both material and spiritual, for the surrounding community and for future generations.
You can contribute to filling the vases by donating precious items (metal objects or stones, precious or semi-precious) or objects symbolic of wealth.

The total construction cost of the Stupa is estimated at approximately €55,000 (all taxes included).
